On the set Batman Returns

Tim Burton believes his Batman movies are like a "lighthearted romp" compared to Christopher Nolan's rebooted versions. The Dark Shadows filmmaker was in charge of 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns, which he believes were a lot lighter than Christopher's latest installments of the superhero movie, The Dark Knight and the forthcoming follow up The Dark Knight Rises.

"I always get told that my material is dark, but nowadays my version of Batman looks like a lighthearted romp in comparison to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight."

Joseph Gordon-LevittJoseph Gordon-Levitt is set to star in a remake of 1960s movie Little Shop of Horrors.

The Inception actor is in line to portray Seymour, a nerdy florist who has to feed a giant, human-eating plant to keep his fame rising, in the comedy-horror musical motion picture. Glee writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is expected to pen the script for the movie, with Marc Platt - who was behind Broadway production Wicked - producing the film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The original 1960s motion picture - which starred Jonathan Haze and Jackie Joseph - has already been remade once in 1986, starring Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene.

Joseph will appear as John Blake in The Dark Knight Rises later this year, and the 31-year-old star is due to direct and star in a new as-yet untitled comedy movie with Scarlett Johansson, which he has written the script for. "I wrote myself a helluva role, one that people wouldn't necessarily thought of me for. This is the first time I finished a feature film I thought was good enough to make into a movie. I've written others, including one mammothy huge sprawling thing that encompasses my entire point of view of everything since I was 20 years old," he explained.

Kellan LutzKellan Lutz is to star as Tarzan in a new motion-capture movie.

The Twilight Saga actor has signed up to play the titular character in a new 3-D production, and Resident Evil actress Spencer Locke is in talks to take up the role of heroine Jane, Deadline reports. Reinhard Klooss and Holger Tappe will direct the fully animated CGI motion picture and Reinhard is also producing the project with Robert Kulzer as well as penning the script alongside Yoni Brenner and Jessica Postigo.

The movie will be inspired from the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs story about the jungle hero, whose parents will be billionaire adventurers who are killed in an airplane crash in the new Tarzan motion picture instead of being marooned with their child. The production - which is being developed by Constantin Film - will also see Tarzan go up against the Chief Executive of Greystoke Energies after he takes over the company from the jungle star's deceased parents.

Gary RossGary Ross is set to direct Houdini.

The filmmaker - who recently directed the first installment of The Hunger Games - is in negotiations to helm the big screen adaptation of The Secret Life of Houdini, The Making of America's First Superhero, William Kalush and Larry Sloman's biography of escapologist Harry Houdini. The book is famed for insinuating Houdini acted as a spy for Britain, helped the Secret Service and was in cahoots with police organizations.

Summit Entertainment picked up feature-film rights to the book in March 2009 with the aim of launching an action-thriller franchise and Noah Oppenheim wrote the most recent draft of the script.

Ross - who has previously helmed Pleasantville and Seabiscuit - recently pulled out of directing the sequel to The Hunger Games with Francis Lawrence replacing him. Although Ross is yet to sign up, bosses are hoping he will agree to do it, but he is known for being very choosy about his projects.

Samuel L. Jackson and Quentin TarantinoSamuel L. Jackson finds it "fun" and "artistically satisfying" working with Quentin Tarantino on Django Unchained.

The Avengers star is delighted to be teaming up with the director again for the star-studded drama movie - which features Sacha Baron Cohen, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kurt Russell, Kerry Washington and Jamie Foxx - and he revealed the film set is "full of fun, joy and laughter."

"It's really great to be back on Tarantino's set. As usual it's full of fun, joy and laughter. It's as fun and artistically satisfying as it's ever been. He is still doing his weekly film screenings of interesting and bizarre movies, last week we saw The Raid which was an awesome movie."

Tom HiddlestonTom Hiddleston wants to star in a comedy.

The British actor is currently playing villain Loki in The Avengers, but admitted he would love to work on a movie where he gets to wear normal clothes and make people laugh.

"I'm desperate for it. I'm telling everyone. I'm putting out the feelers for jeans and a t-shirt. And comedy. I want to make people laugh. I want to slip on a banana skin and walk into a lamppost," he said.

Although he compares him to Adolf Hitler, Tom believes there is hope that Loki can be redeemed as a character: "He's laboring under the delusion that he'll create some kind of world peace by uniting the human race in reverence of one king. And it's an identity search. He's desperate. He needs to belong. He's so lacking in self esteem, that just like someone like Hitler, he needs to fill the void with adulation."

Michelle RodriguezMichelle Rodriguez looks set to reprise her role in the sixth Fast and the Furious movie.

The 33-year-old actress is in line to take on the part of Letty Ortiz for the third time in the film franchise since she first played the character - the love interest of Dominic Toretto, who is portrayed by Vin Diesel - in 2001, Variety reports.

Vin, Paul Walker and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson have all been confirmed to star in the follow up to 2011 movie Fast Five, and Rihanna has also been linked with the forthcoming production, which Justin Lin is set to return to direct.

Michelle also looks set to reprise her role as Luz/She in Machete Kills, the sequel to 2010 action motion picture Machete, which starred Robert DeNiro, Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan. Danny Trejo is due to return to take up the titular role of Machete Cortez, a blade-wielding Mexican Federale, and Mel Gibson is expected to play arms dealer Luther Voz, who aims to wreak havoc around the world by launching a missile. Production for the movie - which is directed by Robert Rodriguez and is also thought to see Jessica return - will start later this month in Texas.

Daniel CraigDaniel Craig says Skyfall will be a "very funny" film.

The 44-year-old actor - who is reprising his role of James Bond in the forthcoming motion picture - revealed his alter-ego shows his humoros side in a scene with go-go dancers, and Daniel thought it was "about time" he showed his humouros side in the film franchise.

"The humor is not something we try to do but it just comes from the situations. I think there are some very funny lines in it but then I have a very dark sense of humor, so others might not agree with me," he said. "Go-go dancers. It's not something I have done before and I thought it was about time I showed that part of myself," he replied when asked about what would be different in this film.

Daniel insists that Skyfall feels like a more "old-fashioned Bond movie" in the franchise's 50th year thanks to its "great" Istanbul setting, and he has enjoyed reprising the "challenging" role for the third time.
